Duane’s brother lent us his beach wagon. We had a weekend furlough and met two girls in Ocean City. Mine was a chubby, blue-eyed blonde named Dixie, who was shy and prettier than she knew. Duane was with a slim brunette named Miranda.
We had just enough cash for one room at the motel, so we pulled a bureau between the beds for privacy.
While Duane and Miranda thrashed about, Dixie and I held hands and talked of home. I was shipping out to Vietnam the next week, headed into the unknown, and I was happy to have some gentle company.
Nice
Nice, gentle story. Great writing.
Brings back memories for me. Well done.
Great story!
