Tonight the classroom is fidgety. Ignoring the raised hand, knowing there is no question there, Master Matt continues with the form. He keeps a loose grip and a smile, offers gentle encouragement, and shows quiet confidence in his students. He chuckles as he accepts each distraction.
The door opens. A student’s dad enters, crosses the dojang and sits along the wall, a puddle growing around his feet. A sign asks that shoes be removed.
The compulsive hand peals to his mother. She consoles and scolds him.
“Is he okay?” Matt asks.
“Yes,” she says.
Master Matt smiles. I envy his patience.
