Legendary 101

By Perry McDaid

It was a big test designed by warped minds, Alex reckoned, much as boys have ‘reckoned’ since their loin-skinned ancestors were tasked to come back with the pelt of a long-tooth, or not at all.

Alex blushed at the comparison. His life wasn’t in danger here, nor was he likely to be mauled, except at the psychological level.

There were mutterings: involuntary rush of blood to his face misinterpreted as defeat.

He smiled suddenly at the image of those long dead peers. His sword flashed.

“Cheater,” Phrygians accused, poking Gordian strands.

Alexander tried not to look sheepish. “Where’s this crown, then?”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
