By Fred Vogel
After playing her my new song, she asked: Why don’t you write a song like Leonard Cohen?
I responded: No one can write a song like Leonard Cohen.
She did not understand, not being a writer, nor a musician, nor a singer.
She said: Well, if Leonard Cohen can do it, why can’t you?
I paused a moment to reflect on her question before gathering every song I had ever written, crumpling them into paper balls, and tossing them into the fireplace. I then lit a match.
She held me in her arms and danced me to the end of love.
That’s great, Fred. Love that last line.
Lovely ending. uplifting
Thank you, Gary and Georgina.
That’s so sweet! (It’s a bit like saying “I want you to play your guitar like Eric Clapton!”)
