Living for the Future

December 6, 2023 7 Comments

By Candice Rubie

The first golden leaf descends to the pavement like the sun falling from the sky, only to be crushed under a leather boot seconds later. The final curtain call has commenced, and the city heaves a collective bittersweet sigh for their lover’s inevitable departure. By the week’s end, gentle mornings with woollen sweaters and coffee dusted with cinnamon will be replaced by warm white string lights and cozy wintery nights. By New Year’s Day, the anticipation will begin for the day the glorious summer heat finally returns. Though autumn still clings to life, she is already dead in the people’s minds.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
