She stood on the bridge, wordless. We both knew we didn’t want the same things down the line; we had to part ways.
I’ve never handled goodbyes with grace. They hang heavy in my chest like an anchor, pulling south.
“Won’t you miss me?” The words fell from my mouth like broken mountains. A moment of silence followed; I waited for her answer, as if my life depended on it.
“Your love,” she answered, her eyes glistening. “I will miss the way you love.”
As I stood and saw her walk away, I realized what I had lost, and lost forever.
So much emotion conveyed in a few words!
Oh blimey. That very nearly made me cry. I’m not quite sure if that’s flash fiction or poetry, but it’s intense and visceral either way!
Very moving.

Wonderful imagery and emotions… I felt every moment … kudos …
How sad.
Being practical can be so cruel.
