Lost in Dictation

Lost in Dictation

By Christina Butcher

The Queen leaned back, tapping the velvety fabric on her throne. She sighed, then turned to look out at the shimmering moons that orbited her planet.

Finally, the doors scraped open, spilling light onto the glass floor and revealing the glowing stars beneath.

The historian limped into the chamber. “My apologies, Queen…”

“Just sit down, Metatron, I want to finish dictating this book.”

“Yes, of course,” Metatron fumbled with his papers, then sat. “Let’s see…”

“Ah, yes. We left off at ‘God saw everything that he created, and behold—‘”

“Not ‘he’, Walter, ‘she’. This story is about me. Please, pay attention.”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Nice! I love how this read like an excerpt from a novel! Btw, I’m not sure if you already knew this, but there is a character in the television series ‘Supernatural’ named Metatron. I was kind of geeking out 😛
