Love Manchester

Love Manchester

By Susan Sutherland

A young girl silently lays a single red rose amongst the many flowers. A mother tenderly kisses her baby, shielding him with a protective arm. The air, heavy with the scent of lovingly laid tokens of compassion. Grief is potent; it stirs the soul either into despair or into action.

We stand united in grief. Together in hope.

A city’s broken bones and sinews exposed by grey scaffolding, its heart ripped apart by hate. A city broken? No! Manchester, my city, united in love. Grief will not lead us into despair; we will be stirred into action.

Silent defiance. Standing firm.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Thanks for the lovely comments. Standing in St Anne’s Sq seeing all the flowers was such an emotional experience. I had to write about it.
