Love Story

March 15, 2021 7 Comments

By Caroline Stone

We threw punches the way professional baseball players throw pitches. Inconsistent, with different speeds, some days better than others, and with the inevitable long-term harm probably outweighing the temporary benefits. We hugged the way a toddler has a tantrum. Frustrated but passionate, often random, hard to end, always our way of coping with the pain that is life. We ended the way the moon falls from full to gone. Once so bright and so worthy of people’s attention, then dwindling so slowly we didn’t believe it when there was darkness. Nothing left to see besides the shadow of what once was.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

What an expression ‘the moon falls from full to gone’! Very impressive, Caroline. This is earthly love that must follow time, space and causation principle. Attraction and repulsion are two faces of the same coin- like happiness- grief, high-low, life-death, and good- evil,…
