We enter the parking structure in silence and take a ticket from the clicking machine. Eight circles up, we find a spot overlooking the city. You turn away, uncomfortable with heights.
We lock the car. I wrap my arm around you. We say nothing.
We move to the elevator, one deliberate step at a time.
Without a word, I press the button marked ‘LL’ for lower level.
The doors whoosh open and we glance out, eyes shifting quickly to ignore the large, bold print—Radiation Oncology.
I grip the door with my free hand; the other remains wrapped around your shoulder.
Chilling…and all to true to life. Real life situations often make the best horror stories.
Very good title to echo the emotional theme.
Nice, sad story. No extra words yet it says a lot.
Love the sensitivity here. Glad to have read this.
Reads like a whispered prayer.
Lovely. To the point, and every word counts. Very touching.
Stark, raw…Flash Fiction. Powerful.
