Lucky Man

Lucky Man

By Brian Taylor

Rainy evening. Cold and gloomy. Like any other day in my heart and mind.

Another day of getting off from a job I hate, stopping at this awful store, buying crap I don’t want or need, then going home to a wife and daughter, both who’ve grown strange and unpleasant to me.

I’m tired.

As I’m leaving the store, a young man wearing a long coat is walking in. He says to me, “You’re a lucky man.”

Offended, I mean to tell him “Fuck off,” but he’s moving too fast.

Seconds later, I hear gunshots and screams from inside the store.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
