Mason sat alone and unpacked his lunch. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, chips, and a Coke.
The sun felt warm on his face. It took the edge off the fact that none of his coworkers wanted to eat outside with him.
A buzz momentarily caught his ear. He watched a black and yellow bee land on the far side of the picnic table.
Mason ran a finger through the jelly on his sandwich. He leaned across the table and wiped it on the wooden tabletop.
The bee hopped over to the jelly and then flew off.
“He’ll be back with friends.”
Nice little story. I enjoyed the snapshot of Mason’s world.
