They came for her eyes at night, and removed them without anesthetic. Lidia hoped the pain would kill her, but she survived the agony.
Engulfed by darkness, her senses sharpened. She could hear the others in their cages. Crying. Begging. Waiting for Them to yank their organs and feed the carcasses to the pigs.
Lidia wondered if They ate the pigs. Maybe They sold them… Rambling thoughts to keep her busy. Sane.
They emptied the cages, one by one. The people vanished, but their stench remained.
She waited. They never returned.
Fresh air filled her lungs, the reviving scent of freedom.
This has the makings of a good sci-fi novel. I want to know why she was freed? who are they?
Thank you for reading and commenting, Hazel. Crazy as it might sound this was inspired by real life. Sometimes, reality is stranger than fiction, even science fiction.
A cross between “The Road” and “Never let me go”. All in 101 words. Very impressive and very dark.
Thank you for the comparison, Malik. I love both “The Road” and “Never let me go”. Glad you enjoyed it..
Really, really dark. I liked it, now Im wondering who are they why they did it…(tell me!)
I love how you write anyway 🙂 hope you post more!
