It was early, the break of summer dusk, when the sun was just winking over the rooftops.
The trees jostled as they settled into a Beltane slumber, resting their wooden bones for the night.
Just beyond the tree line, suspended against a backdrop of watercolour pinks and blues, they hovered around a forgotten lamppost. A thousand wings, sparkling in the evening glow, danced like tiny diamonds around the fractured chimney pots, creating an ethereal cloud of energy jostling against the twilight sky. Striking enough to give pause, yet subtle enough to go unnoticed by most.
Even the midges can be beautiful.
