Miss Judy

Miss Judy

By Angie Brocker

Miss Judy limps into the storage facility I run, carefully cradling her bribe of freshly baked banana bread. Her husband, unaware of her stored second-hand treasures, likely wouldn’t care if he discovered her deception. Miss Judy is convinced otherwise.

“I’ll tell you what, God would thank me if I got rid of him,” she begins as I prepare to absorb her manic thirty-minute non-stop dialogue of the day. “That man worked in management, but he could never manage his own wife.” She proudly sets her newly purchased findings on display for me to admire and tells me I’m her best friend.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Great story Angie, and the beginning, the middle, or the ending of a novel. Add to the fact I love banana bread, the bribe may work on me.
