Missing

By Subhankar Biswas

She rummaged in the wash-basket frantically, not knowing what she was looking for, only that it was something important. She’d been feeling restless since she woke up that morning. She’d checked all the drawers, cupboards, and cabinets in all the rooms, leaving the whole house in a mess. Very unlike her, her husband would no doubt say, when he came home from work. Her daughter would snigger. Mom wouldn’t dare complain about her room now.

“Where…?” she muttered, scanning the bathroom. “What…?”

Something caught her eye in the mirror. She stood still.

Fifteen years of missed life stared back at her.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Good story. Shows what we all do from time to time. The mirror doesn’t lie–but oh how we wish it would now and then!
