Missing Ingredient

Missing Ingredient

By Bill Diamond

Red spider eyes. Check.

Glacier ice kissed by the aurora australis. Check.

Ashes from the Blood Temple altar. Check.

Purple toadstool found at midnight under Africa’s first full moon of Spring. Check.

The professor continued down the list of ingredients required for the omnipotence elixir from the spell book. His eyes focused on the only thing missing. He sighed. He had been searching for months to no avail. Internet ads and rewards had produced dead ends and scams. He was more frustrated than Diogenes.

He despaired of ever finding three locks of hair from an elected politician with a small ego.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I loved it. Irony wrapped in a fantasy-like atmosphere.
