Modelling Clay

Modelling Clay

By A. J. Nahajski

Aeons ago, the parent is getting exasperated with the child.

“Go play with your modelling clay, so I can work.”

The child huffs, wanting to do big important grown-up things, but shuffles over to the coloured clay that sits, waiting.

The child stares out at the infinite backdrop of velvet black: dark stars and light stars, dust and gas, long gone galaxies, and those still yet to be.

“But I’m bored of modelling clay.”

No answer.

The child huffs again, but grabs some clay and rolls coloured balls: yellow, red, orange. Now some brown. Add green. Needs blue, more blue. Done.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Cosmic! Wonderful 101 words, particularly because there are an infinite number of words implied in this. Beautifully done! And this is your first 101? 2 creation stories in 1!
