Monochromat

MONOCHROMAT

By Perry McDaid

The city was awash with scent, noise, movement, tastes, textures, and vibrations. It seemed somehow gentler since he had contracted his condition.

Upbeat friends had suggested he take up photography, which was ludicrous…considering his other, more serious conditions: poverty and homelessness.

Nonetheless, he had smiled good-naturedly. After all, they were in the same boat: thrown out of lives by stock market blunders filtering down to the bottom rungs.

It seemed odd to him that the stress factor had dissipated once he got over the trauma of change and hamstring-pride. He hunkered down and let the lights send him to sleep.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

There is always silver in a pot of coal, if one looks. Nice job, Perry.
