“We’re calling you Diamond because you’re the most precious gem in the world,” cooed Mr. and Mrs. Blow to their long awaited baby.
“We messed up,” said pregnant Mrs. Blow a year later.
“Don’t worry,” said Mr. Blow. “The precious categorisation references value: other really fine stones can be priced higher per carat than diamonds.”
“Really?” said Mrs. Blow.
“Trust me,” said Mr. Blow.
“Your name is Ruby because you’re the most valuable member of the corundum family, and equally valuable to a comparable sized diamond,” Mr. Blow explained to the new baby girl.
“Not clunky at all,” said Mrs. Blow.
What an unusual and interesting idea! Really enjoyed this story.
Lovely!
Well done! Accurate on so many levels
