Musical Aliens

October 4, 2020 4 Comments

By M D Smith IV

The spacecraft landed with friendly aliens who brought a melody so beautiful that all the world was entranced. People were unable to fight after hearing their song only once. Wars ceased. Violence left the soul.

Dubbed The Ali-Tones, they literally brought world peace. Happiness.

Then the heavens and skies grew dark with the millions of other space spheres arriving. The musical alien race left a planet doomed to explode and found a very suitable new home—one filled with a population that would offer no resistance in the slightest way. The music would dominate them completely as new masters took over.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I do wonder how world peace will be achieved. And when we have turned all the swords into ploughshares what about the aliens? A thought-provoking story

Music has always been able to reach those older folks who had lost their memories, when nothing else could, and how do we explain that? There is magic in music.
