I’m Edsel and it’s my five-year high school reunion.
I see Natalie, so I sit across from her.
I tell her I really liked her because she was always nice to me.
Everyone else teased me…probably because I always wore a hat.
Natalie asks, why did I wear the hat?
I say because high school kids can be mean,
so I wore a hat to hide my antennae,
which I have because I’m a space alien.
Natalie says she always thought I was a little different,
mostly because of my three green legs,
Not so much because of my hat.
This one is good for more than a few chuckles. The last line says it all. Good job, Kent.
College was easier for me. Thank you for your comments!
LOL! Love it.
I hope you’re not laughing at my 3 green legs, are you?
Thanks!
The things we think make us different aren’t necessarily the things that make us different. I enjoyed the last line!
I totally agree with you! (Some of my best friends wear hats!)
Thank you for you comments.
I found this story helpful as well as funny. As I look back at my high school years, I realize now that I should have worn a hat.
Wearing a hat can be quite effective in concealing who we really are. The etymology of the phrase “keep it under your hat,” dates back to the very first aliens arriving on Earth, about 1958, I believe.
Thank you for your comments, Bonnie!
