My Container Is Full

August 4, 2026 6 Comments

By Brigitta Scheib

I have a jar of orange cats that I keep on my nightstand; their soft fur is smooth against the glass where light reflects, making bright spots dance against the wall.

When I’m lonely, I twist the lid open, tip over the container, and shake them out. Cats float through the air like autumn leaves. They land on my bed and sink into my velvety bedspread. Some curl up, tucking their heads onto their fluffy tails, and some sprawl, using another cat’s outstretched paws as a pillow.

My heart swells as I watch those downy, purring lumps settling into my day.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
