My Foot

My Foot

By Jeffrey A. Paolano

We yusta try to hide it, made the prosthetic look like the real thing. We’d always wear long pants, with laced up boots, so nobody’d wise up.

I’ve had several different kinds since that little Bouncing Betty bitch clipped me. Now I’ve got one to jog on, one for walking around, one for wearing with a suit or trousers.

We don’t hide ‘em anymore. Some guys put on flags or unit badges or tattoos. Something so people know it wasn’t a car wreck or something took it. It was service to the country. Damn it, I give it for my country.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
