Jane riffled through her closet, her mood dark as the thunderous sky. She shoved aside unwanted clothes, just as the shoe rack unbalanced, tumbled, and scattered shoes everywhere. Jane threw the broken rack aside and paced. She stomped her heels into the hard wood floor until something caught her eye: Clara’s favorite navy blue shoes.
She wanted her feet to feel the inner soles, so she sat on the hard bed and put them on. They were cushiony soft.
Somberly, Jane removed the shoes. She placed them in front of the closet, a bittersweet reminder of a sister gone too soon.
