Neglected

November 14, 2024 7 Comments

By Angie D

The emaciated rabbit stared up at her, dead eyes burrowing deep into her selfish soul.

“Please, Daddy,” she’d begged after spotting the little brown fluffball in the pet shop window last summer. He’d given in on the promise that she’d be fully responsible for Bugsy. She wasn’t.

After turning 15, she spent all of her time perfecting her pout and hanging with the older town boys who gave her more than her fair share of attention.

Callously dumping the dead rabbit before her father returned, she brushed over the growing bump beneath her sundress and wondered if this would be different.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
