Outside Theresa’s office window black smoke billowed from One World Trade Center. Screams and sirens were heard throughout downtown. Pedestrians scrambled the sidewalks. How safe was Theresa across the street? Her ears throbbed at another rumble. She stared in incredulity.
“Oh my God, another plane hit the second tower!” Theresa screamed.
Paper spilled into the sky and a ball of flame disintegrated most of it immediately. People hung out the window gasping for air. Theresa couldn’t stand it; she left her office and paced the floor with her boss and co-workers. Suddenly, they all heard an ominous sound and then silence.
