Each night for weeks, I’ve traded my warm bed for this wooden rocker. It creaks as I pull it close to the opened window. The melody of darkness greets me; frogs chirp wildly, trees sway restlessly for the coming of dawn.
Night sounds loud against the soft crackling of silence. I loosen my robe and rock to the beat of time passing, waiting. The world seems both fragile and balanced in this stilled splice of time that divides night and day.
The music begins. The bassinet shudders as tiny fists flare. Whimpering rises into the strident calls of hunger. It’s time.
Engaging. Truthful. Motherly.
Thank You!!!
