If she only knew, he thought, as he stared at the ocean. Oceana was standing there. She had her back to the wave. He couldn’t speak. He had tried before but the words wouldn’t come out. There wasn’t time to run to her and tell her. He was too far. He knew no matter which direction he ran in, it wouldn’t matter.
Under her sunglasses, Oceana smiled as she watched her lover run to her. As she started to step forward to embrace her lover, the wave, 50 feet tall, hit her from behind. Coward, he thought. Oceana never got up.
That dude is going to carry one heavy load of guilt for a long time. Excellent story!
