Off the Rails

Off the Rails

By J.D. Stampone

As I sat alone at the train station, I became absorbed by the voices in my head. Every word echoed within my mind. A woman walked by, staring at me, as I frowned and muttered to myself.

The incoming train rumbled in the distance. The time had come.

I rose from my seat and plodded towards the tracks. The voices chattered constantly. They toyed heedlessly with my emotions: never stopping.

The locomotive screeched into the station and I took my last step towards the tracks.

The tension built to its climax.

I pressed play for the next audio book to begin.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
