My grandpa made breakfast every Sunday when I was growing up. His favorite ingredients were butter and salt. It makes the meal, he would say, and we never knew better. He had a process that was entirely impossible to replicate and even got specific with his pan choice. He always went for the one he called ‘Old Green.’ It had a dark green painted handle made of wood, and after years of being gripped tightly in my grandpa’s hands, getting drenched with bacon grease and hundreds of washings, the paint had begun to fade away. My Grandpa’s memories were fading too.
This is so very well done, this hits the zone in so very few words. I can see Grandpa and the pan vividly. Sweet.
Love this! The writer is great.
