I’d been cleaning and tidying, all morning! Worrying needlessly! Keen to impress! ‘Age Concern Befriender’: that was me. I needed vetting, checking out, looking at!
Don’t they know people lie? Don’t they know we are all actors and can make a place very different from the way it usually is?
And what of the person or people doing the vetting? Who are they to judge? Can we equally vet them? Expectations. Needs met. Whose? Yours, mine, theirs…
Opening the door, this—now wiser—sixty-seven-year-old woman scrutinized a young, fresh, twenty-seven-year-old female, whose grubby secrets she knew oh so well. Appallingly well!
With age comes wisdom. Worldly wisdom, but wisdom nonetheless… Nice job.
