“It’s perfect lighting,” I say loudly in an empty room, looking at a jalapeno before taking a few snapshots of the spicy spectacle.
I drape an anchovy around the jalapeno to mimic a salacious wink and finesse its salted flesh to encircle the jalapeno with an alluring grip like a provocative fandango. My shutter button clicks away over this popular pepper and wooing wedge of still life.
Somehow the flash of fame moves forward like a sped-up video. My winning photograph makes a magazine cover with a new buzzword blitz, Jalachovy.
Who knew my hunch would take me to jalapeno hallelujahs.
I enjoyed reading this. I can visualise the picture too.
Thank you Derek. It is an unusual pairing.
Jalachovy! Jalapeno hallelujahs! Go girl! Absolutely loved this piece, well written with good balance of show and tell.
