One Moment More

One Moment More

By Scott Williamson

Pale as alabaster, her skin is like the first winter snow. I search for a soul in those vacant eyes, for any spark of life. But it’s extinguished.

Out of the womb she barely drew breath. Her life was so short. I cradle her exquisite frame in my arms, ever so gently so I don’t crush her, but tightly enough so I never let her go.

My tears fall and caress her cheeks like fresh morning dew. To have known her for just one moment is painful, and sweet.

I would endure a lifetime of pain for just one moment more.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Such a bittersweet story. Threatens to bring a tear to one’s eye.
