Uncle Billy lost his leg in a motorcycle accident. His new false leg looked like a hollow tube. It made him walk funny. He couldn’t bend his knee. Mam said he turned mean after that.
Whenever the leg got damaged, my cousin Susie would carry it over her shoulder to our house, so my dad could weld it. She always had a bruise on her face.
I brought the leg back one day. They didn’t hear me at the door, but I heard the hollow crack of Billy’s hand on Susie’s face.
I hope my dad doesn’t ever lose his leg.
Well crafted story!
