P4F: False Witness

P4F: False Witness

By DeRicki Johnson

While they laughed about the faithful they had fleeced, he stalked outside the church walls, pouring the accelerant. Within the tiny church, the sounds of mirth soon morphed to sounds of passion. The match fell to a whoosh, a whump!

As the flames began to rage, like the wrath of an Old Testament God, rhythmic moaning and grunting that had turned to screams of passion, turned to screams of terror, turned to screams of agony. Then there was only the sound of the fire’s greedy breathing.

For a moment he stood silhouetted by the firestorm. Then he turned and walked away.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I like this, it feels like it’s part of a larger piece due to the P4F, is that the case?

@davejamesashton Thanks! Your feedback and encouragement is sincerely appreciated. Yes, in answer to your question. This is part of a series of standalone 101 word stories that form a whole…at least that’s my goal. Sort of a micro pulp fiction thing…
I’m trying to figure out WordPress and Twitter at the same time, and predictably doing a half arsed job with each. But on my list of things to-do is to link them together in WordPress.
