My reactions and interactions with the human are calculated and deliberate. When he’s resting, I mewl and pester him for food. When he feeds me, I sniff it disdainfully then walk away. When he has company, I jump on his lap demanding attention.
It is essential to remind and reinforce who’s boss.
Voices from the sitting room. Conversation. Company. It’s Professor Schrödinger. He’s got Benjy, the spaniel that drools when bells ring.
“He wasn’t useful. Kept yapping in the box, so you knew he was alive.”
I walk into the room. The Professor eyes me strangely.
“Could I borrow your cat?”
Brilliant! Although I realize cat people may not have the same opinion.
Thanks Nan. Really glad you enjoyed it. Let me assure you, no real cats were harmed or injured in the making of this story…
