Dr. Olsen crossed the street in order to avoid the husky man coming toward him from the opposite direction. But the husky man crossed as well.
They knew each other because the man’s son had died the week before at the Children’s Hospital, and the doctor’s opinion on the case had differed radically from that of his colleagues.
As they converged, the doctor grew increasingly anxious, and when they ultimately stopped, face to face, he had already prepared himself for the very worst.
The husky man said, “I want to thank you. You were the only one who gave us hope.”
Thank you – that was a really great ending and highlights how we might miss something if we don’t face a difficulty.
