Pongru was a genius among his species and had conceived a brilliant solution to his problem.
It involved a small pedestal with a dip in the middle, covered in fur or feathers, and encased in a transparent, thermally regulated box.
It was perfect!
Sadly, Pongru had neither the tools nor the materials to construct his breakthrough innovation. For although a genius, Pongru was still merely a penguin doomed to spend the next two months suffering subzero Antarctic temperatures, frequent icy blizzards, and his problem—that blasted egg pressing down on his frozen feet—while dreaming of the game-changing incubator he’d invented.
A well written, very inventive story, well told. Kudos.

What a great idea, a penguin genius! I agree that a short would be fun, but you’d have to let Pongru find an abandoned research station and create his masterpiece!
