Poopsie

December 26, 2021 5 Comments

By Michael Brodin

A month after the accident that killed both her husband and dog, Rebecca was surprised to find she missed the dog most. So she called her sister: “There’s something wrong with me, right? There has to be something really wrong with me.”

“Nonsense! Poopsie was a sweetheart.”

“I know.”

“And Sidney…well, Sidney…”

“…was a son of a bitch.”

“You took the words right out of my mouth.”

“What am I going to do? I’m so lonely.”

“Two thoughts. One, you can have my Saul after I divorce him. You know he always liked you.”

“And number two?”

“Get another Schnauzer.”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
