Once upon a time, there was a girl who loved to sing. However, her voice was bitter and screechy and unpleasant. But she loved singing with all her heart, so she sang along with the radio.
One day, the car passengers turned up the radio and she understood her voice was unwanted. She began to just mouth the words for many years.
Eventually she got tired of not being herself. She felt incomplete, like a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces. She turned to the driver to ask if she could sing, but she then discovered she had no voice at all.
I get it. Just like writers who stop writing regularly have trouble writing again.
Yep! But it’s also metaphorically how people who don’t speak up for themselves ‘lose’ their voice. 🙂
painful, sad, and lovely.
Thank you! 😀
