Precious than Time

Precious than time

By Soma Bose

The rickshaw puller strained to move the rickshaw faster, but he was too old to carry both of us.

There was little time to reach the examination centre and we were tense. So I got off and paid the rickshaw puller my full share. There was no other vehicle available on that strike-day.

My friend argued, “Come on, you will be late.”

But I continued walking ahead, almost running.

After dropping my friend near the examination centre, the rickshaw puller picked me up again.

I was thirty minutes late, but the old man’s relief and my friend’s smile were worth it.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Ah, yes–a Good Samaritan story. Very satisfying. Good job, Soma.

Yes. Goodness and kindness. A nice break from the macabre.
