Ravan’s Revenge

Ravan’s Revenge

By Vijai Pant

“When will Ram kill Ravan with his arrow?” a fidgety Anna inquires, as the characters of Ram and Ravan battle it out in front of innumerable happy, expectant faces enjoying the Dussehra festival.

“Have patience. Ravan’s effigy will go up in flames, ending the demon king’s reign of evil,” says her father.

The fatal arrow strikes the effigy. A deafening explosion follows. Anna, her father, and many others are thrown high into the air. Mutilated bodies, blood, cries and screams everywhere.

Terror strikes the world again, this time through the mythological figure of Ravan.

The end of evil seems far off.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Beautiful….both meet every year and one is killed. A joy it is for those who are afraid of demons. Unfortunate we are ideed because every year we recall and give a grandeur birth. None might have thought about Kekasi, the mother of Ravana, that for her again the same pain, compelled to tolrate being helpless.

Coeards die again and again but braves do not. Was Ravana not a brave individual?
