She hid behind the tree, fingertips digging into the bark as she peered around the trunk. She watched the little boy play with his dad, squealing with glee. The man would not have recognized her as time and regret wore on the girl who grew up too fast.
She would never forget his face or his wavy brown hair flopping down as he leaned over the bassinet of her newborn baby boy. She had watched him then through the window of the hospital nursery before running, feet slapping on the linoleum.
She knew she couldn’t go near them. So she watched.
A sad story well written
