Rucksack

November 30, 2024 27 Comments

By Tim Kirton

It was pitch black when his headlights swung around the empty car park. As instructed, he pulled into space seventy-seven and switched off the engine.

It was 9:55 p.m.; five minutes before the prearranged meet. He glanced across at the bulging rucksack resting on the passenger seat and patted it reassuringly, before checking its contents one more time.

Soon, a dark, hooded figure strode menacingly across the lot towards him. He powered down the window and passed out the sack. “It’s all in there; everything you asked for.”

“Thanks, Dad. I really must get more organised when I stay at Mum’s.”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
