After his stroke, my father’s right side lay without sensation. Immobile for years, my mom fed, bathed, and changed him. She strove to bring him cheer while fighting back her own tears.
To see paint peeling off his home’s walls tugged at his heart. He knew his wife loved a beautifully painted home. He was resolute that he would give his wife the home she deserved.
After the paint job, one evening, he slurringly asked if she liked her safe haven.
“Yes, our safe haven,” she corrected.
That night, he suffered a cardiac arrest, leaving her alone in their safe haven.
Truly touching.
Could understand the depth only in 101 words! Great story!
This is a very moving story told with brevity and good use of language. I enjoyed reading this.
A beautiful love story
Beautifully expressed, love and pain togetherness.
Such a bittersweet, beautiful love story.
