Scorchio

Scorchio

By HelenRuby8

Within my shadow, the viperous little man, habitually abides.

Gutless and perpetually lurking. His relentless determination, appalling and uninvited. I see him, with pure disgust, venom, and a deep-seated loathing.

After almost 18 years, he vilely remains, untouchable. Undetachable.

There is one weapon I possess. It only briefly stuns him. Subdues him, just momentarily. When he rallies, I will be wholly punished, for daring to defy him. He will, as always, be more relentless, than before.

Inescapable, with eternal low clouds and precipitation.

But, for now, I will laugh, like the carefree child, I used to be.

Short term forecast: Scorchio!

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

This conjures the dark in all (or at least some) of us in an elegant and mysterious way. The tone and description has an air of gravitas using weather, so when laughter is employed as a “weapon,” I am completely blindsided! Poignant and very well written.

This is dark, sinister and full of disgust and regret… It feels so ‘from the heart’, as to frightening Helen.

I creative, very thought provoking story. Really well written! I am really enjoying your stories Helen. Keep them coming. X

Thank you Becca xx I wrote this, after our amazing conversarion, when we were talking about all the different types of rain. You were so funny and I ended up in fits of giggles, with tears running down my face, and literally couldn’t stop laughing. It reminded me of my favourite sketch shows, which was on years ago. Where the weather girl, sticks suns all over a weather map, saying Scorchio, every time. I know! Really silly, but really made me laugh. The viporous little man, is how I feel about my chronic nerve pain. I truly see him as a separate, unwelcome entity. I can’t be free of him, but stunning him with laughter, is the only thing that truly helps. I want to thank you Becca, for bringing back my laughter and making me smile, so many times xx

Thank you Firdaus,, for your lovely comment. There is a rather long story about my viporous little man, but lets just say, he had and still does, effect me daily. But it is made so much easier, with your and Becca’s lovely new found friendship, and the joy and lots of smiles, that it has bought, to me. I trully am starting to feel like my old self, something I haven’t felt, for a very long time. You are such a lovely, kind and sweet person, thank you Firdaus xx

Thanks so very much for the wonderful, moving comment you left for me. How did I not know about this?

Laughter is the key to happiness & happiness is the key to laughter 😀

My friendship with Firdaus started in such a similar way to how you and I met. It’s almost a parallel, isn’t it Firdaus?

I was new to another website for writers and Firdaus encouraged me, motivated me and made me smile and laugh.

It helped me to forget my losses and pain for a while. Firdaus is such a lovely individual. A strong relationship quickly grew from that seed of friendship, through our common love of words.

I see similar with you. I am new again, you and I have a passion for words and this time, it is you know needs lifting up. But in doing so, you make this skylark soar too 🙂 Love to you both XXX
