She by Firdaus Parvez

By Firdaus Parvez

My nose twitched at the waft of her perfume through the open window. I knew she was home, even before I heard the engine of her car. Quickly moving to the front door, I lay in wait. The minute she opened the door—I was upon her.

“Get off me you big oaf!” She laughed. Gathering me in her arms, she gave me a tight squeeze and a light kiss on the neck.

Thrilled by her attention, I followed her to the kitchen.

“Look what I got you.” She placed a bowl in front of me.

My tail couldn’t stop wagging!

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
