Christine could hardly wait to tell her best friend Sue about the new shop: proper clothes for real women—not girls with figures like ironing boards.
The shop assistant was lovely—all big, cuddly smiles. The clothes were great—and with sensible styles too. In the changing room, Sue took off her size 14 top and hung it on the wall. The silk, flowery 8 she tried on was a bit tight but the 10 was perfect—honesty at last!
With two dress sizes lost in ten minutes, there was no problem with the celebratory coffee and white chocolate muffin afterwards.

The story came about when we saw a really posh new shop in an exclusive shopping mall using the same sales techniques as I describe in the story. Opposite, was an equally upmarket coffee shop knee deep with cakes.
My wife, who is also my editor, laughed and said that regardless of the price tag, the temptations were just the same.
Blokes have an easier time. I just wear a baggy fleece and no-one notices that I am with child!
And, once again, shopping is fun. Loved it!

Although I have no doubts about my gender, I am absolutely male, I do like writing in the voice of females. It’s a real challenge to see the world through a woman’s eyes and I enjoy it a lot.
