The theater stank of booze, marijuana, and gunfire. In the balconies, an unseen audience waited.
The spotlight found Renata, center stage, frozen. A gun aimed at her from offstage.
Her red sequined dress shimmered. Renata inhaled and began her aria. Her vocal precision was unwavering, precise, and concluded with her trademark high E.
The chandelier over the house shattered, raining glass down on the empty seats.
“Bravo, songbird,” Larry said, and the gun was gone. “Pay up, folks.”
Money drifted down to Renata from the balconies.
“Take it and go.”
Renata stuffed her purse full and flew out of the theater.
I love it when a writer can create a whole world in just 101 words. Perfect story-telling. Thrilling .
Brilliant!
Love me a good Renata. Excellent.
Songbird flew away… what a thrilling scene!
Congratulations. This is the beginning of many more to come…
